Nelson Lee is the President of Green Sky Sustainability Consulting Inc. (www.greensky.ca). He has advised corporations and governments on strategies for improving their sustainability related to environment, health, and safety performance. For the last 18+ years, Nelson has focused on providing climate action services, primarily in GHG mitigation as a GHG verifier with 500 report and offset project verifications completed in AB, BC, SK, ON, Canada, US and EU. He has also conducted climate risk and resiliency assessments and sustainability plans.

Nelson is a member of the CSA Technical Committee (TC 207) on the Environment which is also a harmonized mirror committee that represents Canada’s interests in the development of international standards through the ISO TC 207 / Subcommittee 7 on Climate Change and GHG Management. The committee develops standards at the international and national levels. He is a working group expert on the following standards: ISO 14064 series, ISO 14091, ISO 14097 and ISO 14068.

Nelson has a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta, and a MASc in Environmental Engineering from the University of British Columbia. He was Chair of the Sustainability Committee and Vice Chair of the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy and Environmental Professionals Divisions of Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC). He is now a member of EGBC’s Climate Change and Sustainability Advisory Group. He is a registered Professional Engineer in BC, AB and SK. Nelson was a Steering team leader in preparing EGBC’s Climate Action Plan which was later incorporated into EGBC’s Strategy.

Cheryl has an MSc in Engineering Design from McMaster University and an Environmental Professional Designation from Eco Canada. She also completed the Green Sky internal GHG verifier training and exam. Cheryl has GHG verification experience in an international oil and gas company and Offset project Verification in different fields. Cheryl has also led the integrated management system development and certification of ISO-9001, ISO-14001 for multiple manufacturing companies.

Faraz Khan

Mr. Khan is a Certified Energy Manager and has experience working as a Process Engineer, and Energy Engineer at a northern bleach kraft pulp mill for over five years. During this time, he has worked closely with operations and maintenance groups for the recovery boilers, power boilers, turbine generators and the lime kiln.

Faraz is also experienced in preparing greenhouse gas inventories following the Alberta TIER standards and ECCC standards, as well as preparing greenhouse gas compliance reports.

Recently he has worked with GreenSky Consulting conducting third-party verifications for compliance reports following the applicable verification standards. Furthermore, his experience also expands to working with local municipality governments as an Energy Manager. He has conducted site visits and GHG verifications of extractive industries.

Issa Hassan has experience on over 100 GHG engagements in Alberta, British Columbia and Manitoba. He holds a diploma in GHG Measurement, Reporting and Verification at the GHG Management Institute, where he was trained under ISO 14064 parts 1, 2 and 3 (July 2021), the 2006 IPCC Guidelines and the WBCSD/WRI GHG Protocols. His experience includes preparing corporate GHG quantifications, conducting GHG verifications for sawmills, pulp mills, single and aggregate oil and gas facilities and biogas projects, and preparing mitigation assessments under the Climate Lens Assessment. Trained in LCA from MIT and conducted several studies.

Issa also has seven years of experience in the heavy civil industry, supervising the construction and managing the design of roadways and all its related components, and 5+ years managing green infrastructure and R&D projects in the small-scale manufacturing industry.

Tina Chen

Tina Chen is a Climate Change Consultant with a particular focus on resiliency issues. With over nine years of experience working in the civil, construction and environmental consulting disciplines, Tina has developed a broad understanding of the different issues facing our clients. Her work has included coordinating compliance with LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), erosion and sediment control regulations, and environmental impact assessments.

Tina holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Simon Fraser University and continuously broadens her professional knowledge acquiring multiple certifications in Climate Change and Climate Resilience. She also holds an ESG Certificate from BCIT. She shares what she has learned about environmental issues, providing training to supporting staff and volunteering her time to the non-profit organization Stewardship for Environmental and Economic Sustainability (SEES) of Zimbabwe. Experience with about 100+ verifications in Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan, mainly in Oil & Gas. Completed the ISO 14064-3 Greenhouse Gas Verification and Validation training through CSA Group. Conducted several climate change risk assessments. Experienced in reviewing technical reports and drawings, compiling checklists, verifying procedures, and ensuring the company is following standards set by ISO.

Farooq has overall 20+ years of experience in Environment, Safety and Health and 10+ years as management system auditor. He has performed ISO-9001, ISO-14001 and ISO-45001 audits for refinery, bulk chemical storage terminal and jetty, gas exploration and production company, passenger and commercial vehicle manufacturing companies. Over the past years, he has provided overseas consultancy for ISO-14001 to textile and automobile sectors. He has also led the integrated management system development and certification of ISO-9001, ISO-14001 and ISO-45001 (OHSAS-18001) for refinery and terminals.
