Enhancing your organizations competitive advantage

When your organization puts the planet and people first, it gains a competitive advantage. This competitive advantage is like allowing your organization to drive in the high occupancy vehicle lane; in the fast lane on highways.

– costs savings

The low carbon economy saves money on energy – often a big part of your costs. Once you have invested in the appropriate renewables or energy efficiency project, you will save on your energy bill every year for the life of your project.

In most jurisdictions it is likely that a renewable energy or energy efficiency project will be the lowest cost energy choice for new construction. It’s the retrofits that can be a challenge.

Retrofits often come with an upfront cost. Fortunately, there are incentives to help make the choice easier. Governments provide incentives such as the Carbon Tax in Canada and the Inflation Reduction Act tax credits in the US. Also, in Canada, various governments at all levels have incentive programs for heat pumps and EVs for example. These and other governments are motivated to drive lower emissions.

Utilities are motivated by their own cost savings. For utilities, the cheapest energy source is the one they don’t have to generate. BC Hydro, for example, recently came out with their solar PV and battery storage incentives for industry and residential.

A good way to start is to find an energy consultant. Make sure the consultant is an experienced energy professional. They often come with a certified energy manager (C.E.M.) credential. Get started and save!
